We help children's palliative
care professionals to deliver the best possible care to
thousands of children, young people and their families each
year.
Our priorities are to (1) define and share best practice
to enable the highest standard of children's palliative care
(2) support the development of sustainable palliative care
services to ensure they meet the needs of children, young people
and their families.
Our work includes:
Publishing best practice and guidance for children's
hospice care teams
Commissioning research and doing our own to support
children's hospice care staff in their work
Addressing key strategic challenges facing children's
hospices care teams. For example:
- We lead on the research project being undertaken by the Transition
Partnership which aims to ensure there are better
services to support life-limited young people who are reaching
adulthood.
- In 2010 our Director of Care Development visited every
children's hospice in the country to identify the
strategic challenges they face and to then develop a
strategy to help address these issues nationally.
Organising events and workshops to enable the sharing of
best practice and networking between children's hospice care
teams
- Our national conference brings together care professionals as
well as other senior children's hospice staff to discuss key
strategic challenges facing children's hospices.
- In 2010 we organised over 25 workshops and other
events (including our annual Doctors and Care Managers
Conference) for children's hospice care teams.
